99-cent Urban Fantasy Black Friday promo banner featuring The Observer book cover

From 11/28–12/1, a whole lineup of urban fantasy ebooks (including my novel The Observer) are just $0.99 each.

This year, instead of shouting “buy my book!” into the holiday void, I teamed up with a group of other urban fantasy authors to put together a limited-time 99¢ Urban Fantasy Black Friday Promo. It is a hand-picked collection of magic, monsters, afterlife weirdness, and found families—basically, your holiday reading pile in one click.

What this promo is (and why it’s awesome)

For four days only, from November 28 through December 1, you can grab a stack of urban fantasy ebooks—each priced at $0.99. No subscription, no tricks, just a curated list of stories from indie and small-press authors who are all playing in the same supernatural sandbox:

  • Grim reapers, angels, demons, and things that should not be able to fit under your bed.
  • Snarky protagonists who cope with trauma by making everything worse (relatable).
  • Magic systems with actual rules, consequences, and loopholes you will absolutely try to exploit.
  • Plenty of new-to-you authors you can add to your “I was reading them before they blew up” list.

Think of it as a DIY book fair for people who like their stories dark, strange, and emotionally loaded.

Where does The Observer fit into all this?

My contribution to the promo is The Observer, book one of the Spirit Saga. It’s an afterlife urban fantasy about a man named Frank Hess who dies in the first chapter and then discovers that eternity comes with assignments, supervisors, and a lot of unresolved baggage.

He wakes up as a spirit with no memory in the middle of a hidden war between:

  • Observers – spirits tasked with helping the living make better choices.
  • Demons – spirits who thrive on destruction, despair, and pushing people over the edge.
  • Tricksters and Guides – chaotic and mentoring forces that complicate everything.

As Frank learns what he is and what he’s done, the story spirals into questions of justice, mercy, faith, and how far we’d go to protect the people we love—even after we’re gone.

During this promo, the ebook of The Observer is discounted from $2.99 to $0.99. After Cyber Week, it’s going back to its regular $2.99 price, so this really is a short window to grab it on the cheap.

Why I’m excited to share these other authors with you

I know a lot of you found me because you’re into supernatural stories that take big swings: afterlife politics, cosmic questions, morally gray characters, the whole existential buffet. The other authors in this promo are playing in adjacent lanes:

  • Some lean heavier into humor and chaos.
  • Some are darker, grittier, and more horror-adjacent.
  • Some thread romance and slow-burn relationships through the madness.

My hope is that you use this sale not just to pick up The Observer if you haven’t yet, but to take a chance on a few other books that catch your eye. The best feeling as a reader is finding a new author whose backlist you can binge, and this promo is full of candidates.

How to make the most of the sale

  2. Skim the covers, titles, and descriptions. Grab anything that pings your “I would absolutely stay up late reading this” radar.
  3. Snag The Observer for $0.99 while it’s discounted if you haven’t yet—I’d love for you to start the Spirit Saga.
  4. Load up your e-reader for the rest of the year, holiday travel, and those “I need to escape my family for an hour” breaks.

Last thing: the clock is ticking

The promo starts on November 28 and ends at the close of December 1. After that, the promo page comes down, the 99¢ prices disappear, and The Observer goes back up to $2.99.

So if you’re in the mood to:

  • Try new authors without wrecking your book budget,
  • Stockpile reads for the rest of the year, or
  • Finally see what happens in that book where the guy wakes up dead and everything somehow gets messier…

…this is your sign.

Happy reading, and if you discover a new favorite from the promo, let me know—I love hearing what you’re diving into.
