What Worked for Me
- The story was heartwarming and cozy — it carried a comforting, feel-good tone throughout.
- The magical worldbuilding and creature descriptions — Bubble Fox Hollow and its inhabitants felt vivid and wonderful.
What Didn’t Work for Me
- Some revelations came too easily — answers were sometimes delivered by magical creatures rather than letting the kids figure things out themselves.
The Moment That Stayed With Me (Still No Spoilers)
The first description of the magical Bubble Fox Hollow was glorious, and it set the tone for the wonder that followed.

Final Thoughts + Rating
5/5. This was a heartwarming, cozy portal fantasy with wonderful descriptions of its magical world and creatures—especially in Bubble Fox Hollow. The fetch-quest structure makes it an easy, comforting ride, and the thread of the cousins piecing together their grandmother’s childhood adds an extra layer of interest. My only minor quibble was that some answers felt handed to the kids instead of earned through their own figuring-things-out. Reminder: This review is fully spoiler-free. All opinions are my own.
